कोरोना का प्रसार रोकने के लिए आइसोलेशन की जरुरत के बारे में तो हर किसी को पहले से कहा ही गया है, अब उसे एक फैंसी नाम देकर ऐसे उड़ाया जा रहा है कि "इस संडे सब लोग घर पर रहो" कहना ही वायरस की दवा का आविष्कार करना है।

डॉक्टर लैरी 2006 में ही इस तरह की महामारी की सम्भावना पर बात करते हुए आशंकाएं रखी थीं जो अभी सही साबित हो रही हैं।

If this were a tennis match, I would say advantage virus right now. But there's really good news from South Korea—they had less than 100 cases today. China had more cases imported than it had from continuous transmission from Wuhan today. The Chinese model will be very hard for us to follow. We're not going to be locking people up in their apartments, boarding them up. But the South Korea model is one that we could follow. Unfortunately, it requires doing the proportionate number of tests that they did—they did well over a quarter of a million tests. In fact, by the time South Korea had done 200,000 tests, we had probably done less than 1,000.

यहाँ उनका कहना है —

चीन की तरह “लोगों को सिर्फ बंद कर देने से” उपाय नहीं हो सकता। हमें साउथ कोरिया की तरह लाखों टेस्टिंग करनी होंगीं।

सामान्य समझ की शुरू से की जा रही बात को राजनैतिक चाशनी में कह देने के प्रति योयो होने के बजाय ये समझना जरूरी है कि महामारियों का इलाज इतिहास में डॉक्टरों और वैज्ञानिकों ने किया है — और इसके लिए सरकार को उचित इंतजाम करने की माँग करने के बजाय योयो करने के बजाय पूछना जरूरी है कि टेस्टिंग कितनी होनी हैं, उसका क्या होना है?

दुर्भाग्य की बात है कि, ये डॉक्टर तो खुलके सरकारी व्यवस्था को उसकी समस्या दिखा सकते हैं जैसा कि इन्होने किया है —

Is it going to protect us completely? Is it going to make the world safe forever? No.

इसलिए हमारी सरकार को कुछ करना नहीं पड़ता. "इस संडे को सब घर पर रहो" कह देने भर से लोग योयो हो जाते हैं - जबकि यही बात वैज्ञानिक कबसे कहे जा रहे थे, पर उनका क्या। ड्रामा भी जरूरी है।
